Changes to Water and Sewer Rates

Effective April 2, 2021, the changes to the rate structure will be implemented. Customers will see these changes on their 2nd quarter 2021 bills (received in early July). The water and sewer bills have two sections: a base charge and a usage charge. Each customer (including each unit within a multifamily home) is charged the base rate regardless of water usage during the quarter. The second charge, the usage (or flow) rate, covers the actual amount of water used. The number of units for multifamily homes will be cross-checked with the Town tax information and will be billed in a consistent manner. Note that there is a different base rate charge for premises using larger water meters. Most residential and small commercial properties have a 5/8” water meter.

For water, the base charge for residential customers with a 5/8″ water meter will be $73. The flow rate will be $6.34 per 1,000 gallons of water used.

For sewer, the base charge for residential customers with a 5/8″ water meter will be $84. The flow rate will be $12.35 per 1,000 gallons of water used.

Customers in the sewer district can received credits on sewer bills for water used not entering the sewer system (e.g., car washing, swimming pools, irrigation, ice rinks, etc.) are available if the customer opts to install a deduct meter. A description of that process is described here.
